Got home from church last night and my son said one of the few eggs we had left was chirping...lol. We saw the little peep home it had pecked out so I moved the incubator in beside my bed to watch it. After loosing one right after it hatched last week and the other 3 to the dog this week I was pretty worried about this little guy. Still no baby this morning, took hubby to train yard for meeting, and came home to a sweet little baby!!!! My little lavender splash is the only baby I have from the 32 eggs we set last month.... Can't wait to see this little one grow up.

Thanks!!!!! This little guy is very vocal, not at all like my silkies I lost.... Speaking of breeds... Does anyone know where I can get a Dominique? My little girl fell in love with the one at school (their FFA flock) and I would love to get her one. I'm thinking that it and my lavender splash will be our special pets and I'll get several birds of the same breed so that I can have a higher chance of pure babies incase I want to sell eggs/chicks.

Me and my big mouth and that whole "I'm worried about Salmonella". I've been so diligent about the kids not touching them, not touching anything that touched the chicks.. and now -I- have Salmonella poisoning.

Yeah, I'm about to die. You do not want to know...

I'm worried to report it, I'm afraid someone might take my chickies. I probably should contact TSC and find out who the hatchery is? Ofcourse, they'll likely deny any involvement.. It's my own stupid fault, I'm sure I forgot to wash my hands or something (Play with chicks, wash hands. Get waterer, clean waterer, fill waterer, wash hands. Carry waterer to chickies, put in, close brooder, wash hands. Pick some bedding flakes off my pants... durrrrr)

I feel about as rough as when I had my baby.. which I did without an epidural. Let this be a lesson kids. Salmonella sucks.

Sore, but much better. Between cramps and heaving yesterday, I feel like I did 200 crunches

Still on the banana, rice, apple sauce and toast diet, although I added some hard boiled eggs to the mix.. Got on the scale and I've lost like 8 pounds, but I think that may be water weight.. Drinking Gatorade and water to fix that.

In other news, darn rooster was getting into it with the other Jersey. They were standing face to face on their tippy toes, then jumped at eachother with their feet out. I thought that was rooster behavior, but the other Jersey is a female.. (her comb is non existant) They're getting tired of their little box. I primed the inside of the coop today. Sooooon chickies, sooooon.
