You could try poppas brooder here on BYC he has wonderful stock. He is highly recommended as a breeder and I have ordered some of his hatching eggs. He is not NPIP but you could have them tested at 3 months old. Just keep them in a brooder till then. That is what I did and mine were healthy.

I live in Tuscaloosa, Just finished building our chicken house and now we need to get chickens. I'm trying to follow in my papa's footsteps and he passed in September so I can't really ask him an questions now. What is the best to do? Buy hens and roo, then put eggs in the incubator then raise the baby chicks and so on. Advice please? Would like to see about getting some chickens this weekend.

I will be having chicks hatching this weekend and actually have some older chicks available now. I need some more information, but I will PM you. Start with chicks and work your way up to hatching. Don't sweat the small stuff, Bamadude.  They would think my birds were ugly, too.  I hope, at least, that you asked for their opinion of your birds.  They compare every bird to what the SOP says and anything that is not close to that is ugly.  That's fine if it's what you are into, but many people are not.  They just think everyone should have the same standards.  I don't dislike the "hardcore" breeders, I just recognize that their focus is different.

i kinda asked. But they essentially said for me to throw em away and start over. Lol. My wife said if she were bigger she would punch that guy in the throat for bad mouthing her babies. Lol

Saw some plastic type fencing at lowes today.Iactually tried to break it but couldnt. Seems like the perfect material to build a run with. Its 4ft x 50 ft for $26. Have any of u tried working with it? Its a dark green color
