ALABAMA!!

Hi, Jack! What part of Huntsville are you in? I spent a lot of time there in college. I USED to know my way around pretty well, but that was a long time ago. I actually almost married a man from Huntsville and moved to his farm in Athens......*sigh*

ANYWAY -

Thanks for the welcome. We're thinking 2 barred rocks, 2 astralorps and then 2 more of a third breed. We may just go for barred rocks and astralorps. Open to suggestions on the third breed. Or alternatives. We're new to this. A friend of ours has a barred rock and I think it's too cool.
I vote for two Buff Orpingtons. Sweet birds and can be large. Good layers I hear. I really don't know as a fox or coyote terminated mine.

Just to give you an idea how big they can be these were the orpingtons that I use to have. They can eat off a 5 gallon bucket and they can see eye to eye with my border collie. But they are really friendly and I use to call them my dogs with feathers. I think Racoons terminated my flock

I drove to Henagar, Alabama to pick up my new LGD. I'm trying to think of a macho name for him, but so far, i just call him Biscuit.

What an adorable baby! I'll have to get that contact info from you next year. I want a good LGD dog myself and have been looking into the different breeds before I started looking for breeders. I love the idea of a nice mix!

I forgot that I haven't shown y'all my new babies yet! All new breeds to me: two females of each, barred rock, Delaware, gold-laced Wyandotte, and Barnevelder . I'm so excited to watch them start feathering in!

This is when I first got them at three days old.

The chicks are cute

So, we were planning to have our chicks delivered in January from Myer Hatchery, but I just realized that the minimum order is 15 until April. We are planning to buy between 6-8. Anyone want to go in on an order?? :)
