Had a hawk swoop down on my girls yesterday while I was outside. It hit branches and took back off into the sky. It's wingspan was about 30-35". All our chickens are full grown large breeds (BR, BO, etc.) Is a hawk this size dangerous to these girls? Our yard is heavily treed and lots of bushes. Any other thoughts?

I lost 3 of my youngest silkies to them already and they tried to get one of my older ones. She got some scratches on her face and head but is alright.
And one of my friend lost her full grown RIR to a Hawk. She said they are able to land and chase the chickens into the bush or barn on feet.
