"I have a question for Alabama posters....is there a regulation somewhere that says you can only have so many chickens (I don't know the number) and then you have to have a permit? I have a neighbor that said something about needing a permit (she has 25 chickens and sells her eggs)...

My flock is growing...I currently have 5 mature roosters (a couple of which need to go..) I have about 24 laying hens, 8 auracana that I am raising up not sure of the pullet/cockerel ration quite yet, 22 chicks that have hatched out, 30 eggs still under hens, and 54 eggs in the incubator. (Most of the incubator chicks are Red Star and will be for sale)...

I am out in Russell county....I have 22 acres total, my chickens are free range on about 2 acres...(for some reason, they like being up by the house...

Anyway, the neighbor told my kids that I needed a permit to sell my eggs if I had more than a few chickens....Any help with this would be appreciated..."
sorry i messed this up, didn't know how to "quote"

I live in Tuscaloosa county. My agent said that the only time you have to have a permit, is if you are selling eggs to the public off of your farm, i.e., at a roadside stand thats not on your farm, or at a farmers market. If someone comes to your farm and buys eggs, you dont need a permit.

Thought id post on here and see if I have any luck finding someone.

Well I currently have a few drakes who I am interested in selling or trading for.

Breed: Mallard drake
Age:about a year and a half old
Reason for needing a new home: He is a very "active" Drake. I dont need any more ducklings and with him around I would be too tempted to let my girls have some.

Breed: Buff x Mallard
Age: 8 months
Reason: Also an "active" drake. As well as he has decided that he is going to chase my month+ old ducklings and pull out some feathers.

I dont have the room to keep these two seperated from my other ducks.

As for trading, if any one has scovies ... well

Do you have any broodies now?Looking to add a few more layers.

I don't think I do. I saw one hen in the nest last night, but I dont think she is broody, I'll check in a little while to see if she is still in there. If you just want a few layers, I've got some young pullets for sale, buff orps, white orps, and jersey giants. Lot easier than raising babies.
