ALABAMA!!

North Alabama, here! We live in Lawrence County, AL--about 50 miles west of Huntsville...You can see from my sig that we mainly have mutt chickens now, but I have some Buff Orps in the bator as we speak! Do any of you know of any poultry shows in Alabama? I did a Google search, and it is just showing old dates--nothing for 2011. I would love to go to one and see all the different kinds of breeds in person.

Oh, and the county seat of Lawrence is Moulton--home of the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival! They hold it every April at the fairgrounds/Lions Club. They have lots of chickens there, too, plus all kinds of activities, games, food for the kids, karoake, etc..it's pretty fun!

Do you all know of anyone in NE or central AL who sells their eggs? I had been buying about 4 doz. at a time from a lady who lives out near my mom (outside of Florence), but for some reason all her hens stopped laying so I'm looking for another egg source. There is a woman in New Market who sells eggs from her little farm, but her eggs are very expensive (almost $4/doz). Add the cost of the drive to that and that put's it at around $5/doz. I cook a lot from scratch and just cannot afford that. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Michele,
I have some muscovies for sale if you haven't found any yet, the only thing is I am in Tuscaloosa county(northern part). I probably will have a couple of bantam hens too.

My Bourbon Reds just started laying so I will hope fully have some poults in March. I also have a pair of Eastern Wilds and hopefully they will start laying before long.

Hi all!

SW TN here-actually on the tri-state border, not too far from Florence. I am looking for some local breeders and thought there might be some N. Alabama breeders here. I am looking for almost any breed of brown egg layers, EE's, and Salmon Faverolles. If you know of anyone, please PM me!
