ALABAMA!!

Hey everybody! I think this must be the active Alabama Thread, and I needs some chicken friends. I am in Birmingham and am raising my first batch of chickies. This site is a bit overwhelming, and I am hoping to find an active thread with a regular group of people! Today is my girls' 3 week birthday, and I lost a sickly one last night . I am beyond sad. I know not all chicks thrive, but of course I am blaming myself for every little thing I might have done differently. Now I have 5 and am hoping at least four are hens--I think I can already tell who is the roo! Any how--hello all, and I hope to talk to you often on this new chicken journey that I have joined.

Spend some time finding a thread that you are interested in and subscribe to several. Yes, this is where the most Alabama people come to check in but I don't know if you could call it 'active!' I am in Tuscaloosa county and if you need something, PM me! Have fun with your chickies and on the site.

Welcome Hollytree from North Jefferson Co.
Don't beat yourself up over loosing a chick. Has happend to us all. Just brace yourself. At least it wasn't a preditor.
You will find some great people here.
There are also some great local chicken groups on facebook if you are active there.
PM me and I'll point you in that direction.

Welcome Holly, yes this one is the "Main" one. There are several false starts, and we try to help people find their way here when we find one, lol.

Hi Alabama! My husband and I will be moving up there June 3rd. Unfortunately, we have had no luck finding a rental house in the Huntsville area.

Anyone know of any rentals that will allow 5 small dogs near Huntsville?

I have given up hope and I am selling off the chickens and ducks.

As of now, it looks like we will be hotel bound.

Oh, NO! I hate that you are forced to do that! Did you have a real estate agent helping you? Did you check Athens and New Market areas? I know there has got to be a place for your animals!
We are using a realtor but they are saying that finding a place that will allow our dogs is difficult (all under 20 lbs). I know that we would have more luck if we were up there now and could talk to homeowners not property managers. We only got 3.5 weeks notice of my husband's transfer and can't go up first. I just don't want to bring any of the birds unless I know for sure because then what would happen to them? I have already sold most of my ducklings and have someone that will take whatever doesn't sell.
