ALABAMA!!

Well, hello everyone!! I've been referred to this thread by a few people, so I thought I'd drop in and say hi. :) I live in Morgan county, a bit south of Huntsville, I'm hoping to get my first flock in the spring, and that's all I can think to say. So, hello!
Welcome to BYC and the Alabama! thread! You have come to the right place. Make sure to do your homework (research) before you start your flock. Everything from coops and runs, to breeds and feed. There's a lot to learn and this is just the place to do it!

I'm thinking Brahma and/or Rhode Island Red, but I've just started looking. Very open to suggestions!
Half my flock is rir's. breed does very well down here. I just hatched off about 30 of them. As far as feed, I get all my feed from Hanner's Feed. Its on 69 between Arab and Guntersville at Scant City rd. They are hatching alot of Jersey Giants right now, where as most of what I am hatching is barnyard mixed mutts(all from good laying stock & breeds) mostly to fill the freezer.

I think I know the place you're talking about.. Is it the one near MMCN? (hospital) I've seen the feed store there, but I've never gone in before.

LOL yeah but you got abit of time from chick to get them outside. Or get you a duck lol dog house works just fine for mine. Course the 2 breeds of duck i have arent know for being flyers. they wont even go over the 3 foot fence thats around their pen.

rancher hicks, I think it's beautiful, but I am sure that living in that for weeks on end is difficult.
