Good morning. I am up writing at 6am because my alarm clock has gone off....again. ;) My Pekin duck quacks as loud as she possibly can every morning between 6 and 6:30 am. WHY?? Why does she do this? It is so very annoying, and I am just waiting for my neighbors to begin complaining. I want to sleep. What can I do?! Thanks! I should mention, she has TWO water sources and food available..so I don´t think it is because of hunger, but I am no expert by any means! Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated, I am on my last hope with this duck. She may have to go and I hate that.

Is she alone? Maybe adding a mirror? What do you do when you hear her?

No she is not alone, there are two other ducks. When I hear her I get up and go outside. I let the chickens out of their coop (5 chickens) and they all go eat together. I know she is just starting the day, I assume it has become a routine for her.. It is just so loud. I wish there was a way to get her to do it later, or I dunno..LOL!

Well she has you trained she starts quacking you go out an let everyone out! You could try hanging something over the window to block the light but if it’s hot where you are that would keep fresh air out.
Yea, I figured...lol. Just like my children haha! <3 So, this morning I went out earlier than she normally starts in, and let them all out. And she did not quack. I think I confused her. BUT then about an hour later, she started in, so who knows..lol! It is very hot here so I cannot cover the openings unfortunately.

I relate! Our Pekin female goes with the flow of the sun.....therefore, my alarm clock is getting earlier till summer is over …… and currently her pen is close to my bedroom window! :duc My husband reminds me he likes the Muscovies better....although Thelma (Pekin) certainly entertains us

I feel your pain. If I am not letting my ducks out of the nighttime area by 6:30 they are making a complete ruckus. One of my pekins let's off her alarm quack when she knows I'm out in the yard and wants to come out of the run. She's very insistent and demanding. It's charming and cute and can be frustrating if I don't have time to let the ducks out and supervise. They sure do have personality, but that's why we love them!
