Alchemist farm line moss egger

Yes they look like they have marans in them along with ameraucana. Their legs are feathered and their general build (especially the white) looks a lot like my fbc marans chick. On the website it also said they have a 50/50 chance of chocolateish brown eggs or a nice green so I’d bet that’s the cross.

Makes sense then that they are F2 OEs, as that will give you a 50/50 chance of a brown egg.
My best guess is they are 3/4 Marans and 1/4 Ameraucana.

I have 21 seven week old chicks from Alchemist and 4 are Moss Eggers. I think I have 3 pullets and 1 cockerel but its possible that someone is just a very late developer perhaps. I've been meaning to make a longer post about the them and my experience with Alchemist (which was great). I am a first time chicken owner so i'm no expert but I'll post some pics so you can see them, they are the most friendly of the breeds I have, the rooster is especially lovely.

As far as their breeding I know that Francesca from Alchemist, in addition to offering the typical F1 olive, has been working on her different lines of OE for years (sage, moss, cocoa), tweaking the genetics every generation to achieve distinct characteristics in each line for egg color and feather type. I've seen her comment that the moss eggers have American Bresse genetics.

I got 2 moss eggers from alchemist farm. Francesca said stance is usually how to tell them apart but that’s not really helping me. They are both 6 weeks old. The white one is bigger but s/he hatched a day earlier than the grey and they both had “female” wing feathers at a day old. Not sure if that matters as they are hybrids. They’re both sweet and enjoy being held. The grey has slightly more comb than the white. I really need help on these. I have absolutely no idea. I’ll keep updating as it’s early also.

I don’t think the darker bird is a Moss Egger.

Oh, I know, I should have been more clear that the black one behind is a different breed. The moss eggers are the 4 white ones, one of which has a few black patches.

At 7 weeks, it’s pretty safe to say you’ve got one cockerel and three pullets.

The darker one is 100% a moss egger. I hatched these chicks and both the grey and white one in the pictures came from dark green mossy eggs.

The chicks are now just over 8 weeks old. The white one still has no comb and the grey still about the same as it always was with no color changes either. The grey one is starting to get copperish markings on her/is hackle exactly like my FBC marans chick that the community is pretty much 100% on being a cockerel so not really sure what that means. Hopefully just that they’re part marans

The Moss Eggers both look like pullets. That Silver Double Laced Barnevelder is a cockerel though.

The Eggers are pullets! Don't worry, just some color leakage. The only place where that would be concerning is if it were isolated to the saddle and shoulders
