alfalfa for chickens?

I've been feeding mine alfalfa pellets along with their regular food for awhile now. I was lucky to find an entire case of it at an Amish discount store very cheap. My chickens seem to love it!

I toss a flake of first crop alfalfa hay into each run maybe once a week. They really enjoy it. I've never fed them alfalfa pellets, they just get the flake which they scratch apart so they can get to the leaves. It's chicken entertainment.
