ok, my friend got a poultry magazine, and it had a recipe for alfalfa tea... they use a flake of hay and a big garbage bag. i was going to use alfalfa pellets as they are easier and cheaper. you boil it, and then you use 1/2 and 1/2 in the chickens water.

    here are my questions.

    1) is it good for chicks? they say it's a good source of natural "green" protein

    2) has anyone done this? and do you think it would hurt to give them?

    thanks.

    I do something similar.

I often soak the alfalfa or hay in water for a couple hours before givng the slop to the chickens/ducks/geese. They like the rehydrated grass/alfalfa.
