So I wanted to ask how much ducks eat algae in the wild?

What do you think about this?

Part of why this came up, the other day there was a local news story about the state monitoring algae problems in the nearby lakes (too much algae).

So it would seem like they should just increase the number of ducks right?

I wasn't able to find any info giving a specified amount of Algae eaten by wild ducks, just that it is a part of their diet along with other aquatic plants and roots.

In a perfect World adding more ducks to keep the Algae problem in check would be a wonderful thing if it were that simple. People who live on these Lakes in high dollars lake cottages may not appreciate all the ducks and their duck poo on their expensive lake front lawns.

I did find this link below that I thought was interesting on the subject. My guess is that the large number of ducks on the pond would only make the Algae problem worse.
