I use poop boards so floor bedding can indeed last 6 months.
ETA and it's not deep litter, just dry pine shavings.

Is it because you are not feeding them grit they need grit to help break down food and without grit they wont lay any eggs.

One of them laid in egg in the nesting box yesterday but I didn't discover it until today when I pick up one of our Wyandottes' first egg.
