My buff orpington pullet is the most demanding of the flock when it comes to food. Well I look outside and all 5 (3 guineas,2 chickens) are on the porch demanding that I fill their food bowl. So I fill it up and I'm walking back to where I feed them and the buff orpington flies up and knocks it right out of my hand and it spilled everywhere. Well they were happy because it was raining food but I was mad because I had to fill it up again. What am I made of food?? Crazy chicken.

I don't know about Buff Orpingtons, but our Dominique hen is a wily little thing when it comes to food. She's at the bottom of the pecking order, but she's always the first one to get treats. She keeps an eye out for anything tasty and then sprints up to grab some before the others can get close! She'll even squeeze between, under, around, etc . . . the other chickens and me to get to food!

My buff orp will follow me in the back door if she thinks she needs something more than what i gave them!

Not sure if its a breed thing or just a personality of that one bird thing hehehee she is my pushiest though..

Can't say I have noticed any of mine being pushy persay. But they are all pretty great birds and enjoy being picked up and held. I am really glad I got them this year.

My Buff hen is our major chowhound. She does not fly up or act aggressive to us, but she'll come running from anywhere when she sees the compost or food containers & tracks our movements thru the garden in case we have a bug we need her to eat. She will also move everyone else out of the way if need be so she gets the food she wants.

Our two younger buff pullets are also pretty dominant in their age group...where are the timid Buffs that others speak of in the forum?

I'd say, knock her down or fend her off (gently) if she tries it again. Better yet, get/make a larger feeder!

P.S. We love our Buffs, it's just interesting that they are so unlike what we expected.

Good luck!
