All but one chicken died!

I was sitting for my friends flock and went to check on them this morning and all of the young birds were dead except for one that was outside the coop. My friends came home and surveyed the scene. They said there was no trauma or blood, they just dropped dead. There were no open gates and we can't figure out what happened... The birds had just reached egg laying age. Any ideas? So sad!

So sorry this had to happen to you while you were chicken sitting!
It's very unusual to all of them to died at the same time. Maybe you better ask a local veterinary to look into their cause of death as many viruses can wipe out a flock. Good Luck.
