If it is just males they will be fine, they dont need females. But if you do get a female.. you are going to need at least six. LOL

You are probably right! But for now, I think I will just enjoy my boys. I do plan on building a larger duck enclosure w/ pond and plants after my barn is finished. Then I will get more of several different breeds. Thanks everyone for the information. I love this site!

I've got two boys, and they are best of friends. One thing to remember though, if you get some girls in the future, they are MUCH louder!

I sell many of my excess drakes as "pond ducks". Often subdivision homeowners with "waterfront property" on the ponds required for drainage control or a source of firefighting water, want to have a few ducks on the pond for their visual appearance. My pitch for the drakes is that they are more colorfull than ducks, less noise, and none of the overpopulation hassles that you can have with a mixed flock. In other words people that want a few ducks but not to raise ducks. Once they have seen the drakes and compared them to my duck flock it is usually a done deal. Of course one of the advantages to me is repeat business as drakes are killed off by preditors or dogs. The drakes live a fairly good life on the ponds and it works out well for all.
