all four babies gone now

yesterday my baby rooster went missing. last week all the other babies went missing while visiting the yard. my whole batch of layers is gone now. and i really liked that baby rooster and was even going to think about keeping him if he was a good roo. i have to go post in predators and pests now. I hope my little babies died fast and with little pain or fear but this predator is mean if it is the same one that got my two big girls last year. anyway, even when they go out to the coop please watch your babies....they are such easy prey when young.

I am sooooo sorry for your loss. This is a good lesson for a lot of us newbies, to make sure that we really make sure we know what predators are out there. I'm going to have to do some more research into the snakes in my region. My grandparents mentioned losing a lot of chicks to them.

Sounds like you need to work on tightening up your coop security before getting more birds...
