All four chickens in the nest box at once?!?!

mine do that too...
i have enough nesting box so that its 1 per 2-3 hens...
they all seem to lay in the exact same box...
right now i only have adult silkies since i had to change around my flock..
so i put in 2 nesting box for the 2 hens ...
they always lay in the same one..
one's broody right now...but the other still goes to the same nest to sleep weird.. good thing she's not laying eggs or i wouldn't be able to separate them..

A covered cat box. I hadn't thought of that. I have one I'm not using(down from 3 cats to 1). I'll put it in there and give it a try. This also made me think about using a 5 gallon bucket on it's side. I found one of my Wyandottes laying eggs in a bucket on the side of hubby's workshop. I may try that also. Thanks for the idea.

I took out the partitions in the one set of nest boxes and hung a curtain so they would be darker (and as a precaution so they won't eat the eggs). They still have their favorite spot but the latecomers will just squat next to the first one, and so on and there is no suffocating or squabbling going on. They eventually move all the eggs into the main favorite spot tho. A few others will use 1 or 2 of the other 4 nest boxes.
