All I want for Christmas...

...is a FRESH, LAID EGG!

Not really - but it would be a nice gift. My Buff Orpington's comb and waddles have grown and reddened up this last month. (My 3 pullets are 19 w.o., so it could happen)

Every morning when I open their coop and look in the nesting box I sing to Buffy, "All I want for Christmas is a fresh, laid egg...."

I'll let everyone know if (or rather WHEN) it finally happens!!

I'm with ya on that one. Except mine are 20-21 months old and are not laying because they molted and now that they are done there's not enough light (and I'm not willing to provide supplemental lighting).
You might get lucky as pullets don't seem to be affected by the light in the same way. Good Luck!!

When I first read your post[I'm with ya on that one. [ Except mine are 20-21 months old ][/url] I thought you meant they still weren't laying and they were 20 months old

After the molt, maybe you'll get lucky and one of them will start laying once in a while.
I'm especially excited because this will be our first homegrown egg, ever!

Haha. That would be a long wait!!
I think I'll be waiting until spring for them to start laying again, but I would love to be wrong

Just an update- I didn't get an egg from buffy by Christmas.
But, the good news is that she has started to "squat" in the last couple of days! I'm thinking she might lay by New Years!
