All in one & none in the others!

I have 6 girls. 3 decent nest boxes. They sit and scream at each other seemingly to hurry the one in the nest box! Do they not realize there are 2 more!

Silly girls general seem to have a favorite box regardless of how many are available.

It doesn't matter what box it is, if one of the girls is in it, THAT's the one my other girls want. We have 8 boxes and 5 hens, and yesterday one box had 4 eggs while one other box had the other 1. Go figure.

Doesn't matter! The good nest is the one another hen is in! I love watching nest box drama.

They all have there favorite box. I only have three pullets two of which are sisters and the third and smallest one is a month older and she is the Queen and always uses the same next box. The sisters will use that same box only when the queen is not in there. If she is in there they will use the other box. When the favorite box is open and the sisters decide to lay at the same time the will crowd in there together. My two next boxes are 12X12X12 so it is a little tight when two standard pullets are in there together. Most of the time all three eggs are in the same box. It is fun to watch as they get it all figured out.

Right? It's so funny because the girls waiting to lay will stand and stare at the one in the box all the while scolding and "yelling" at them. Cracks me up.

I have 2 nest boxes for 5 hens. They use both, but for months after they started to lay, the right box was the favorite. Recently the left box is the new favorite. GC

Put fake egg/golf balls in all nests...that will help to 'spread the love'.
