Well I only have 4 birds, 3 of them have been laying for a while now, I have a pullet among my birds, I noticed her going in the nest a few times but only for seconds then coming out.
Her comb isn't that big but it is bright red, anyway this morning went to clean the poop boards and instead of the usual 3 eggs I had 4, so it looks like the pullet has started laying.
Not 100% which is her egg but I'll keep an eye on her tomorrow and see which nest she goes in, she is a Cuckoo Maran so if she is like her sister her eggs should be dark brown but I only had 1 dark brown one among the 4, but it's early days so they may get darker.

That's the problem, I thought that too but I get a large one from one of the hens and 2 medium from the other two, now I'm getting one large and three mediums.
Today I was cleaning the poop boards and there was only three eggs, later when it was time for them to go to roost I looked in and there was the fourth egg, a medium.

Grats!!
Usually pullet eggs are pretty small, should be easy to tell which is the new layers?
Yes they are small but I have a couple Dominique's whose eggs are just about a medium size. I expect to start getting larger eggs from the Dominique's since they are a year old now. When I put them in an egg carton I usually can tell which ones are smaller. LOL!
