a RANT on top of a question.
Recently I enrolled my dd in swimming classes in effort to get her less afraid about water. Turns out she is taking the class with her best friend, so this made things easier. after the first class I met the little girls dad and he seemed nice. fast forward a week and I picked up dd's little friend to go have some fun at the bowling alley. Her mom walked out in September and I thought she could use some girl time and so did her dad. After bowling we went and had a nice meal and then shopping before I dropped her off. DD's friend showed a lot of interest in our chickens so the following weekend I brought them a dozen eggs because she had asked me if they tasted different than store bought. Her dad was happy and said thank you.
then that week at swimming in front of everyone he tells me I should cut my chickens of layer feed for 2 weeks because every single egg I gave him had blood in them. ???? The day I delivered the eggs to him, my girls layed 20 eggs, I gave him 12 of that batch and I, my kids and DH ate the rest for breakfast with Canadian backed bacon and toast. There was nothing wrong with our eggs, so I know that he was not being truthful. Now him saying this in front of other people could have hurt me because there were other people present that buy my eggs but they all said there was nothing wrong with the eggs they got from me. and I had delivered the eggs to those customers on the same day. I deliver eggs in town on Sundays, all in one shot and its done with.
well he then tells me I should just kill off all my chickens because his eggs were all bloody. I was really upset with him, I know blood spots occur but they are not all that common, and for a full dozen to be like that then I would have seen something wrong with my flock at which time I wouldn't be selling or giving away my eggs.
Later in the locker room his dd said she had heard her dad and said it wasn't all the eggs but just one and it was just a tiny little spot, but it grossed her out and she didn't wan tot eat that egg. Understandable seeing she is only 8. She also said she sees it in store bought eggs too and refuses to eat those as well. and she told my dd that our eggs were real yummy sunny side up.
My question is why in the H, E double hockey sticks would he even lie???? makes no sense to me. But I could have lost three of my customers. that same night when I got home I cracked open the 21 eggs my hens laid the day after the ones I gave him. I also cracked open the ones that were laid the day before, and nothing....not a single one.
so tomorrow at swim practice I plan on giving him a copy of this:

to make matters worse while I was in the locker room with the girls, our egg customers asked my Dh about the plans we have in adding pigs to our farm and my Dh was explaining the process we would take in order to be able to sell the meat when my dd's friend piped up and began saying how hogs are killed in a very graphic nature. in front of my 3 yr old, my friends 4 yr old and a couple of other children. My Dh was peeved and later told me he thinks that man is just nuts.
just to make it clear, there is no way my dd will ever spend a single minute in the presence of that man, no matter how much she begs to go play with her friend at her house...
In the time you have been keeping chickens have you ever encountered a full dozen eggs or more that were full of blood?
We honestly think he was trying to bring us down, by making us look bad...not really sure why but my Dh is not pleased, in fact he is avoiding being int he same area as him tomorrow lest he decide to push some buttons and end up in the pool
