all my mutant cats

I have a weakness for black and tortoise shell kitties, especially the long hairs. Mini's mane is beautiful! My tortie would have a mane like that if she would stop pulling it out during allergy season. My Tubby is allergic to fleas, mites, ragweed, oak pollen and rats. Good thing I don't need a barn cat.

Edited to add: Mine has red sticker (same as a yuck sticker) in her file too.

Never had a torti, I think they're beautiful too.

Poor Imp.............wasting away to nothing.
Fantastic face on Notches, I just love the big face a Tom gets. Will not be long and he will be pulling your hand towards him for a pet.

Yeah poor little Blimp.

When Notches showed up, his face make me think of some old cartoon characher, Can't nail it down though.

ummmm Imp?
You do realize those are CATS don't ya?

Dontcha have a dog or somethin'?

They're mutant cats- ate the dog.

Blimp sounds a little like my Doozy cat in attitude towards the vet. We had a whole series of vets who said things like "her temperature looks just fine" while they were still three feet away with the thermometer. I think in was the growl, continuous and low hummed, like a swarm of bees, that put the poor vets off.

Charlie, the orange tabby, however thought the vet was his best friend. He purred and rubbed the entire visit...just not normal.

We have three current cats...Katie (named for Hurricane Katrina) white with gray markings and blue eyes, Elise who is mostly gray but really a dilute tortie, and Neo, aka Ninni who is black. We've always had cats, and mostly they just seem to find us. Katie was at a strip mall, just hanging out. Elise was born nearby and by the time we got her and her mother trapped, she was the only survivor. She is named for a girl in my son's preschool class (he's in eight grade now). Neo is last year's kitten, found by neighbors who were cleaning out a foreclosed home and found him dying.

DITTO! And it's not just anyone that can take in strays, get them healthy and keep them that way. There's a special place in Heaven for you Imp.

Mini is just gorgeous! We end up taking in most of the strays too, but thankfully there are rarely any around here. Our favorite was a "maine coon" kitten that was just wandering on the busy street one block over. He was AWESOME! Best personality with people but not afraid to take on my 100 lb dog even though he was probably only 6 weeks old at the time. Hewould hide under the entertainment center and then just pounce

When he was about 10 month old and HUGE he was fine one moment and then about an hour later we found him in the backyard with apparent brain damage. We thought he maybe fell out of the tree somehow but looking back - we had another neighbor have a dog get shot so maybe? Anywho we had to have him put down. That was several years ago and the kids still talk about how they miss Eddy.

Right now we have 2 cats both tabby/tortie's. One of them we found in a car engine at a pawn shop. The guy was going to drive off with her still in the engine even though he knew she was there

He told us he didn't care if she died. So we convinced him to let us rescue her. Her name is Nuggles and she is special mentally. Her little paws had 2nd degree burns when we brought her home and so she got carried to her food dish and the water. She still thinks she needs carried to them AND carried to be protected from the evil fluffy dogs AND carried to be protected from ummm her own shadow and everything

ETA: She is 7 years old now so this has been going on awhile...

This is the two cats we currently have when they were younger Nuggles and Foo, they blend together really well.

Peaches Lee,
Ludger is beautiful. Looks like he's thinking. I dare you to walk by, I have tripping skills. His mutant paws look very cool.

mom'sfolly,
Doozy sounds like a hoot.
A cat I had years ago- Jake, decided he didn't want his weight taken. So he opened up the vets arm from wrist to elbow. He got her good too, there was blood everywhere. I was so embarrassed I never went back to that vet. I can imagine the sticker she used.

Sounds like cats know that you are a safe haven.

You do realize that Mini is going to kill you in your sleep for taking her picture, right? Be afraid.

Yea! I know, and it probably won't be pretty.

Know the phrase "the cat that ate the canary" well Mini ate my singing canary when she was young.

pbj...,

Sad about Eddy, sometimes the cat gods are not kind. I've come to think that everytime I lose one it means I have room for 2 more.

OMG! What a whack job.

and I agree with Nuggles. You were put here to serve.

We've had adventures with strays, too:
Duchess, mama of the other SIX (!) ran away from her owners who are friends of ours because... Well.... She needed to.
hmm.png
Ended up and the house of a DIFFERENT family we knew, and we took her and her three kittens in. (Oreo, Boudicca, and Ploofus Maximus.) We had heard that you wait until the kittens stop nursing until you get the mama fixed Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, no. Six more kittens showed up. Four of the six were kept, (Fluffy, Dagger, Messy, and Shamrock) we tried to get her fixed again, but we waited too long and six more had to be rehomed.

Duchess is now finally fixed.

If I had to guess, she's glad.
