My 24 week barred rock hen is starting to spend the majority of the day on the nest. The past 2 nights she has also slept there throughout the night. She gets up for a few hours in the morning, eats, drinks, forages and then back in. I sometimes see her panting in there too. She lays a good egg everyday since 16-18 weeks old. Any advice?

probably the first step to broodiness

She could be broody? We've recently learned that not all broodies make raptor noises lol not is our newest broody fluffy

Is she making any sort of strange noises?
Nothing too strange, normal egg song for a short time and when I check the camera she’s silent or gives an occasional whistle/cluck? I keep reading that this breed rarely goes broody. Ugh. What should I do?

If you want to break her. A wire dog crate elevated on bricks or lumber with a bar for getting off wire bottom is best for 2-3 days with food/water.

We have a Brahma going broody and from all I've read it's rare, and our Australorps who are supposed to be broody hardly go broody. It's all in the bird lol

I guess so, minds of their own lol. Is it necessary that I do that? I really hate the sound of that. What if I let it ride? How long can it last? Sorry for all the questions!
Next she stops laying
Really? I did not know that. For how long about?

Did she start spending the night in the nests recently?
Did she sleep in the roosts before the nest sitting time started?
Wondering if she's being bullied off the roosts....or there's not enough space for her up there.

Just the past 2 nights and 3 days. There’s 15’ of roosts, she always use to be up there. 6 hens.
