Bantam frizzles? What are your experiences?

I had one bantam (pekin) frizzle chick, and she was absolutely bouncing-off-the-walls insane. I can't definitively say that the frizzled feathers made her crazy, but it's my leading theory. ;)

I have heard they are quite energetic!😂 How do they do in the cold? I know they are incredibly sensitive to cold but I plan on keeping them in the coop when it’s really bad. What do you do?

They're not going to do as well in the cold, since the feathers are twisting away from the body and allowing heat to escape. Personally, I wouldn't get one again unless I lived in an area that didn't get below maybe 20 Fahrenheit. But I'm sure lots of people keep them in colder conditions without an issue.

Keep them dry, and keep the wind off them. Same as any chicken, really. I'd add some supplemental heat in the coop (there's a relevant thread on the front page, right now), then wrap the chicken run in clear tarps/roofing panels. Leave some ventilation at the top, far above their heads. My chicken run gets pretty cozy in winter when the sun hits it.

I own both Silkies and Sizzles (The Sizzles have a little Polish in there and there's some with EE and Salmon Faverolle, but they mostly have the Sizzle traits😂), and I will say that both breeds are some of the sweetest, goofy, and most broody chickens I have ever owned lol! They have great personalities and are very social. I can't imagine not having one in the flock after owning them😊
