We've had blood in two eggs and I'm beginning to wonder if they were fertilized somehow. Is my chicken sick if these are all hens? The blood spot wasn't like a normal meat spot. It was bright red blood. I wish I'd gotten a picture first.

All appear to be female. Also A fertile egg is not going to be bloody (have a developing embryo) unless it was kept warm under a broody, or in an incubator, or at temps in the 90s for a couple of days. Most likely the blood spots you are seeing are just that- blood spots. Also known as meat spots. Not harmful, just a bit unappetizing. As long as the hen seems fine and it is just a small amount(don’t worry about the brightness of the red color) I would not worry about it unless it worsens.

Always get pics of 'weird' things. ;)

Blood spots are from a blood vessel breaking when ova is released from follicle.
Meat spots are from a tiny piece of tissue breaking loose from the reproductive tract.
