I have a mixed flock of 12. Half Buff Orpingtons and half Gold Laced Wyandotte. All are 18 months old. The last couple of weeks, their egg size has become way smaller, especially compared to their huge eggs late Fall and early Spring.
All seem healthy and no change in diet from that time.
8x8x8 coop
12x12 indoor run
24x75 outdoor run
16% crumble
Oyster shell calcium available always
A couple handfuls of scratch in the AM
A couple handfuls of Grubbly in the evening
My only guess is that I have a couple GLW bullies....
Any ideas for me please???
Thanks!!!

Adequate water in this heat ? They may be nearing the end of their laying cycle and about to take a break and molt. Has egg color also lightened ?

This is fascinating. I am obviously not the OP. But I also have a couple hens also about 18 months old that have started to lay smaller and lighter colored eggs. Is this a sign of impending molting?

Yes!
I noticed that they all are almost white eggs now!
What’s going on then?
Thanks!!!
