Hello, I was wondering if I could feed my chickens a 15% protein all stock feed, as long as I gave them oyster shells for there calcium needs.

I would be glad to here other peoples opinion on this.

Thanks
J.

Quote from another thread: "That's basically it, it has the bare minimum without being really enough for any one individual species. . . So it might keep the chickens from starving but there still might be some nutritional gaps that might let disease get a foot hold. And probably like you said nowhere near enough calcium for good shells on their eggs, possibly weak chicks also."
You would probably be better off with a chicken-specific feed! I recommend Scratch and Peck feed, if you're looking for organic, corn free, soy free, etc. It is pricey though, which may not be a good choice if you're looking to make money off the eggs!

Yeah price is very important. We are starting a chicken buisness and so far we been buying our feed at Atwoods. But at there prices we'll have all our profits in feed

Perhaps someone else can help. I don't have experience running a business but I'm sure with a little research you can find some great food! :)
