Hi folks! I'm new to this forum, although I've been helped a great deal before even registering, and new to chickens.
Finally got our first chickens in June! We were given a Red Rock, a Barred Rock and her 2 chicks. Then shortly after we my daughter and I helped neighbours process their meat birds and she insisted on repaying us in hens for our coop! In the end, when they were old enough for her to prettywell tell hens from roos, she gave us a pair of black copper marans and an olive egger!
The 3 newest ones came to live in our coop in July and are about 5 months old, and the chick's that came with the BR were hatched first week of June. The RR and BR are apparently about 1 or a little over 1yr.
Our RR is such an impressive layer, she just took her first day off today in 2 weeks! The BR is fairly consistent too, but she's recently taken to pulling my roos chest and neck feathers out and it's quite concerning.
So, I posted about it in a thread on here and so here I am, joined up!
