If your temps are low they hatch slower. Just last or week or the week before I had some stragglers pop out on day 20 so keep the faithWell it's day 18 of my hatch and still no pips. Starting to feel discouraged![]()
I just have to thank you all for encouraging me not to give up. Came home today to find three little quail in the incubator and two more look like they have pips!![]()
I have 5 that hatched on day 19 and I have two more that look a lot like they may hatch. I'm pretty happy since I only set 11 eggs and this is my first try at a homemade incubator.Congrats! How many do you have now? What day is this for you? I'm on day 15 of my first hatch, so I'm reading and watching everything on hatches right now!![]()
Start a new thread with the headline splayed legs, some people have had success treating it. It's only happened to me a couple times and neither time had a happy ending. It happens when they are too smooth a surface, I use a towel or shelf liner in the bottom of the brooder the first couple days .I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but this morning I found all my chicks trapped under the towel I was using for bedding and now one that was perfectly fine yesterday has legs splayed so badly they're just stuck out behind it. I tried making a brace but I'm not so sure how to do it for his problem. Here's a photo![]()
