These are being eaten. Don't wanna hatch out or attempt first laid eggs

Set 27 Coturnix eggs July 24th. We were prepping our homebator for lockdown last night and while doing that, I candled the eggs with the kids. Looks like 13 out of 27 have chicks in it

I also water floated a couple to show the kids what to look for when the egg wiggles. Near the end, I thought I heard some 'peeps'... but I have 4 small excited kids so I wasn't so sure. We placed the eggs in our Hova-Bator with the 2nd batch of eggs while we finished prepping the homebator - we were waiting for about an hour for the temperature and humidity to regulate again before putting the eggs back.

About half hour later, I look in the Hova-Bator and there was a baby chick hatching!! He/she was already halfway out. We all start freaking out cause it was soooo exciting! LOL

We moved the eggs back in the homebator, locked down and our baby chick is now in its brooder - my son named him "Bold" for being so bold hatching 3 days early!

Here's hoping for more hatchlings by the end of Sunday!

My 13 quail are 6 weeks old today. They only weigh about 6-9 ounces but two gone went ahead and laid eggs!

It's so exciting to see your first eggs... I still look forward and get excited when my girls lay eggs...
