alleged dark cornish hens?

Well.I did some digging for you and here are the results. There are actually 3 varieties of Cornish Chicken accepted for show (at least in the U.K. not sure about anywhere else). You can also find them listed under their original name which is Indian Game Chicken. They come in 3 varieties: Dark, Jubilee and Double Laced Blue. The person who gave you these 2 chickens wasn't too familiar with the breed. Anyhow, maybe yours are a cross between a Blue Cornish and something else. He probably decided to claim they are Cornish because they might be a mix between a Cornish variety and another breed but they aren't really anything since they are a mix. My guess is that they are a cross between a Cornish variety and some other non Cornish breed but you won't really even be able to guess at what breed that may be or their sex for another month or two. Here is a site that gives you info on the Dark Cornish and variants of it. If you scroll to the bottom you will see pics of the different varieties of Cornish chickens. Hope this clarified things a bit for you. If you post new pics of your 2 chickens in another month and a half or so we might be able to determine sex and breed a bit better for you.
