Allergic to eggs!

What exactly are you feeding your chickens?

Sometimes it's not the eggs, but something in the feed such as fish meal or shrimp waste etc.

I'm feeding them layers feed pellets right now. We just started getting eggs at the end of July though, so it's not just our backyard eggs causing it. She's been having the symptoms for a while now, so we went and got her a food allergy test.

Quail eggs may be good for her! I have heard they are more allergen friendly, although they need to be kept away from chickens...so it may not be the pet for you. I keep my quails penned up and the chickens free range around their aviary.

We are 6 months into our chicken journey. We have a wonderful flock of egg laying pullets. We also just found out my 3 year old daughter is allergic to eggs. I'm so bummed! Just when we're all excited about getting fresh eggs, we have to stop using them in our cooking (at least for my daughter)

I was allergic to cow milk, my skin is really sensitive, but now I am not allergic anymore. I used to have to drink only goats milk.

Interesting! I'll keep that in mind if this is a long term allergy.

Our oldest outgrew her egg allergy by age 6, so there is hope (but her peanut allergy will be a forever thing). Applesauce is a good alternative in baking as a replacement for eggs.

Many people who are allergic to chicken eggs are not allergic to duck or quail eggs. I have a customer who buys my quail eggs for her daughter who is allergic to chicken eggs.

My niece was also allergic to eggs as an infant/toddler and outgrew it by around 6 or so.

Thanks everyone! I do think she'll outgrow it, but only time will tell. We've been experimenting with egg substitutes and so far apple sauce and mashed banana have worked well. I made myself a big backyard egg omelet while she was at preschool today.
