Allergic to my chickens ,need advice..........

i recommend osha rated n-95 (or is it r). grey coated masks. cheaper to order by case online, but with flu scare $ ?
i have mold allergies (epi pen and go to er bad) and live in hot, humid georgia. So these let me out of the house to do garden or yard work or get around town on bad days.
Wearing these while cleaning the offending areas should help, make sure to change clothes and rinse off in shower (the allergists instructions).
In the hardware store, before the flu scare, these ran 3-5 dollars each, online were way cheaper. Look in the painting section too.

If you're feeling uber cheap you can just tie a bandana around your nose. That's what I do, and when I'm done I take my rake and ride around like a bandit! I am allergic to nearly everything, so when I come in from being with any of my pets (who all stay outside. animals don't belong in the house) I wash my hands past my elbow and up half my arm and pretend I'm a doctor prepping into surgery. Then I pull my bandana up again and walk up to my mother with a butter knife and a creepy look in my eyes! I like to goof off

After cleaning my coop I take a shower to clear my sinuses and get rid of all the dust and dander and poop.

I have opted to rehome 4 of my 6 girls.I cant handle this many hens inside,and they arent able,for multiple reasons to be outside.In my search for a coop, i talked to someone from altoona(works at the local feed store) who HAD chickens,they made him get rid of them when he was building his coop stating that someone complained,though NO ONE said anything beforehand,though they had their hens for OVER 5yrs,wich i'd say is a load of crap,he still has 2 inside and lets them walk around in a dog xpen in his yard on nice days,he did have over 25 hens),i am going to follow suit,by keeping the 2 i am VERY attatched to, Betty and Geraldine,as pet hens. I'm NOT willing to lose all my chickens,without a fight to keep them.I will take the 2 of them to my dads to be outside in his yard ,when i go over and swim this summer and maybe very soon in my yard on the back porch on nice days(im screening in my one section of porch for them to be out and safe) im using a lightly tinted screen mesh on all visable sides with plants all over.I'll put some roosting areas and shelves with ramps in and thats that.No one will be able to see in.

The real kicker is there is NO ordinace that states they are 'not allowed'' in altoona.So they really arent 'prohibited',per say,but we're ''not allowed' them?.i am going to download the city code and print it,and if i get hasselled i'm going to say ''where does it say that i'm not permitted to have them? show them the codes and lack of prohibition for my girls,add that ''they are pets'' (wich is much more believeable with 2 hens,diapered,harness/leash trained,sleep in my living room in a ferret cage and come when called)

Thanks for the update prophecy. It seems so unfair to make someone get rid of their chickens! Best of luck to you, it sounds as though no one could possibly argue that Betty & Geraldine aren't pets if they live inside.
