Alligator people here!

I love gators. I think they are really interesting. and I always joke about wanting one to keep unwanted people away.I would never really want one. there is a place down the road from my daughters apartment called gator country.they now have a show called gator 911 on cmt. one odf theese days I will get to go there.

Here are pics from the Farm we went to. We tried gator meat at the Cafe in the park. It was a nice setup, probably easily 20 acres. The first pic is small gators sunbathing. they were about 12-15 foot long. One they had there was like 20+ but they hadn't been able to measure him that year....wonder why? The second pic is a baby in their tank of little guys. The last 2 pics were the feeding frenzy. Around that pond was high chainlink fences enclosing about 2-3 acres with literally hundreds of gators.

Cindiloohoo, I live in Natchitoches, been to the gator farm! Cool place. And yes, I definitely would not like owning an animal I could not handle with my bare hands, not a good idea!

I'm sure this is not normal but I remember watching an animal show on tv. A guy in Florida had a full grown, and very fat, gator as a pet. She had her own wading pool and nice concrete area around her pool. If I remember right she lived inside of his beautiful home and went out to the pool when she wanted to. He raised her from a baby and he pet her and said she was like a dog. I remember her climbing up on a lounge chair to sun herself.
Completley not the norm but interesting to watch. I always remembered that. A gator isn't something I would keep. I have been offered "free" ones a couple of times.
We have ball pythons and now geckos. That's enough furless friends.

You folks from Natchitoches...bet ya'll are burning up down there! That summer was SO stinkin HOT! Pretty place though. The farm was fun...I can't remember the big gators name..I never got to see him. He was hiding out the whole time. I liked the alligator snapping turtles and the goats

That place is why I now have goats. I was there when they had a few kids running around. I wanted to put them in my pocket and bring them home!

Leave it to me to go to a gator farm and fall in love with goat kids...

Actually they are way less aggresive then most think. The gators at the parks are conditioned to act that way, a feeding frenzy. Its alot in how they are raised, what they are fed, how they are fed, and how they are handled all make a difference. I dont see anything wrong with keeping them as a pet. Its your own risk to take. Just dont dump them. If it gets too big, butcher it

People butcher all kinds of animals when they get big, why should a gator have a different standard. Ive raised a few. The breeder is always very glad to have them back. Think about it, you pay them for it as a hatching, you feed it for three years, then give it back, they now have an animal that much closer to harvest size and they are ahead money wise. Breeders are always glad to have them back when they get big.

My husband has always wanted an alligator and we have looked into geting one for awhile, but have since put it on hold due to our baby.
Alligators can be raised as pets, but never will be pets. But they can be fun to own, but of course do have dangers.
They arent something just any one should own.
They do require lots of food and a large amount of water.
