Where my chicken run is proposed to be (don't have chicks yet, scheduled on the 28th of September) - there is practically no shade.

I thought I'd plant a couple of nut trees for the shade with the added benefit of Manna falling from the sky for the chicks enjoyment. Are nuts safe food for them?

I am in Central Florida. If not nuts - can you suggest other fruit/shade trees for them?

Thanks, as always, love ya, gang!

Mine have eaten all those with no trouble at all.
Funny thing is, the fig tree has finally stopped producing so they are leaving it alone.
Now they are hanging out by the pecan tree, waiting.
They're stupid creatures, but they figure some things out.
