Hi, I know it might still be too early to tell, but based off the comb, does it look like a cockerel or pullet? Right now, it’s going through the molt phase. I got this chick from TSC bantam bin. My whole family loves this silkie, so I hope it’s a pullet since we can’t have roosters in my city. Any guesses? TIA

I have a genuine question cause I’m new to silkies, I have a 9 week old and 6 week silkies .. why are you giving it a bath? Do you have to for sillies? I’ve had chickens my entire life and I’m approaching Middle aged and I’ve never bathed a chicken. But I’ve also never had silkies .. appreciate the info!

Hi, I’m new to silkies as well. You don’t really need to bathe them. I bathed her/him because she/he was really dirty with poop from my other standard sized chickens. It’s actually easier to bathe silkies because they have down feathers. It’s personal preference to be honest.

Looking like a pullet but it’s early for silkies

Thank you! I wipe my little silkie down with baby wipes cause her legs and feet are heavily feathered and get a lot of poop stuck in them but I’m just so cautious to bathe chickens.. might have to do with the fact that my parents used to tell me and my siblings if we sprayed the chickens with the hose they would die 😂😂. Now as I parent and a chicken keeper, I get it lol.

Lol! I don’t think I can even baby wipe, I feel it’s not enough lol. I hose my chickens from time to time to get their feet cleaned. Maybe you should checkout some silkie bathing videos on YouTube to see how some people bathe them. It’s really like giving a puppy a bath.
