Help needed!

I came in this morning to clean out our school chicks (5 and a half weeks old) and Hobbles has got a toe that’s bent sideways. Definitely only noticed today. She’s walking on the leg fine and it doesn’t seem to be bothering her but I’m worried that she’s maybe landed on it funny and it’s fractured or broken? Also read it can be a deficiency but would that show up so drastically this quick?

What options do I have to help?
I can try and book a vet appt. tomorrow but there’s only one chicken vet in the area and I don’t know if they’re working tomorrow. I don’t fancy trying to reset it myself without any pain relief for her as I’ve read it might be sore 🥺

What do you feed? Resetting it may be your only option. You can wrap it up after that and the pain won't last very long. Distracting her with a treat would help if that's what you decide to do!

It may just be a crooked toe that has become more noticeable as she has grown. I probably would not do anything to it. The reason being is that if it is crooked from birth, trying to tape it normally will be painful and it probably won’t even help at this time. If toes are taped in the first couple of days of life they are pliable enough to straighten out. She would be limping and in pain if that toe was just broken.
