So while on the phone with my friend, was watching my chickens. One of their butts looked odd. Upon closer look I realized that Fiona (Salmon Faverelle) had an egg stuck in her butt. Got on the computer and read what to do. Brought the dog crate in out of storage, put it on cardboard (to protect the floor) and dragged in pine chips and put in front room near but not too near the fireplace. Got an epsom salt bath ready and gathered up my girl. Yup, that's an egg. Soaked her in the water for a while and got a little personal. Then I realized it was not stuck in her, but merely stuck to her feathers. Massaged the egg free and wrapped Fiona in a towell to dry her off. She wasn't too happy with me but is now back out in the yard enjoying some treats. Now I have a crate full of pine shavings in my front room. At least she wasn't eggbound!
