I ordered some chicks and they cam in 2 weeks ago. I only have one golden cuckoo marans roo. And he was almost dead this morning. I cleaned him up and his poo came rushing out. Why at this old is he getting pasty butt? Do I need to check then all after I get off work this afternoon? What can I do to stop this? They are on starter, water with acv, and heat. I just pray he makes it. Usually you're over run with Roos. Now I'm praying my only one makes it to this afternoon.

I'm not sure on exact temp. But it's the same light that I raised all my chicks on. But I put two of them bc it's been so cold. Being to warm cause this? I went ahead and turned off o e light this morning just to see.

Usually it's too cold, not too hot. I'd stick a thermometer in there to see where the temp is sitting, just to be sure he's not too cold.

When one of my chicks started with that, I gently cleaned it twice a day and kept a very close eye on all of the others. I hope he's okay,

We had a chick with chronic pasty butt and washed her up at least twice a day for a couple of weeks. Just keep doing it. It will get better. You could also trim the feathers on their hinder a little bit so the poo doesn't keep getting stuck to it.

If that same chick has a "pasty butt" when it is older, look into it having "Gleet", which is a fungus - think yeast infection. You take care of it the same way a woman takes care of a yeast infection...yogurt and topical medicine. I know, toooooo much information, but just trying to be helpful.

Good luck with your little fuzz butt! Get a thermometer in that brooder.

Just got home from work and he passed. I'm going to be watching the test like a hawk. But the good news is the person I got them from said they can get me some more thankfully. Prayin ibdont lose anymore
