Thanks to lots of help and a lot of ideas from the forum and BYC, our coop is just lacking in paint! Oh and birds... haven't quite figured out the right time to put them out there just yet, still pretty cold and no power out there. Is 5 weeks too early for them to just go it alone?

Thanks for the advice and compliment...I am going to wait as long as I can. The chicks are getting ancy and cramped.
Maybe some warm day field trips to the yard will help? i keep getting the comments...you have chickens in your house!!???

I just want to say "don't you have dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs and birds in yours?"

I don't see the difference till they get big and besides I am kindof attached to them and I would hate for something to happen
to them after we've come this far.

That's a nice looking coop. I'd let them move in and keep them in the coop part with no access to the run for an evaluation. I'm betting they'll be fine. How many birds are there?

It doesn't look like you have a lot of snow in the picture, so if you installed a carefully hung heat lamp inside and only let them out when it's sunny for a bit, they should be fine. A lot of people hate the thought of heat lamps in coops for good reason, but I've never had a problem with them. I only use them in extreme conditions, or with littles. I wouldn't put them out there much before 8 weeks without heat.
