Thanks everyone for the compliments - it sure helps to keep me motivated! I feel like it will never be finished...

The coop is 5 x 6' for 6 girls. We spent $450 on materials, and $310 on hardware cloth. The roof was from home depot at least 10 years ago, we used it under our deck as it's a walk out basement and it kept us dry. We replaced it with Dry Space last fall but kept it because I knew it would be put to good use (just didn't think it would be for chickens!). We also reused 2 replacement windows from our basement.

The bags in the pic are mulch, I have a lot of gardens.

Yes, those are turkeys in the first pic, we have been here 15 years and have always had them. One year we had 52! Sadly this year we are down to 4 - I'm hoping there will be babies soon. There is a sandy area in our field where they dust bathe.

So yesterday was far to windy to do anything:(
Today looks promising though!

It's adorable, and really sturdy looking!!

I like how you covered part of the run. We have followed almost exactly the same design, though with board and batten siding and a green metal roof, not pitched...

Thank you! We have six girls, Red Stars. I LOVE them! The coop is sturdy, my tubby hubby and I were both in it while I primed and it didn't even move.

My plan is to make a chicken moat all around the garden to help keep the field weeds out. But I had hubby extend the roof of the coop so the girls can go out & play in the rain/snow and still have a dry space.

This morning the girls all fought over a feather, it was hysterical!

Did I mention that I love them?
