New Chicken Run

Hello,

I just finished/well almost just need to finish attaching the hardwire fencing, and the shade cover. I still have about 3 more weeks before the chicks can go out there. But my question is, do you have to put the hardwire buried in the ground as well? I don't live in an area that has a bunch of predators (NW Florida). I will also be building another duck house and run since the boys are separate and, in a month, or so they will be introduced to the girls.

If the coop is secure, the babies can go if they're out of drafts.
It wouldn't hurt to bury an apron, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it too late.

Yeah, a hardware cloth skirt/apron is pretty easy and well worth the peace of mind. Mine is 24". Didn't even bury it; just stapled down thoroughly with extra long landscape pins. Some is covered in gravel, some with a garden box, and some with weeds.
