Almost ran over chickens....again!

Ugghhh...I almost ran over my neighbor's chickens this morning...again! This is about the 6th time I almost splattered their chickens. It makes me so angry that they have such little regard to the safety and well-being of their flock. I know the whole "free-ranging" fad thing is in...but jumping Jesus, Mary and Joseph...knowingly putting your animals at risk just seems criminal to me. If I ever hit one of them I'm going to be devastated...sick to my stomach...then be in trouble for slapping the owners simple...with a brick.

Use a really horrible air horn to announce you are coming through, whether there are birds present or not. If it irritates the neighbor, so be it. You are just anxious because the chickens don't have brains like humans(some of them) do.

Was it in the street or in your driveway? Either way it's wrong but I'm just curious how out of control the birds are.

We have someone sort of like that, they have a farm right along the highway, and their flock ranges on the curb. There has been flattened birds before. I think a duck....

I’d honk like crazy , maybe they’ll get it . Free ranging to me is like throwing my money to the wind . I’ll give them as big a space as I can , but I’m responsible for their safety and I take it seriously

I don't know them...so I don't speak to them. They aren't immediate neighbors...but close enough that I pass the place multiple times a day.

I can't do that...too many other critters to startle. There are horses, little Shetland ponies, the hairy bulls, cows and piggies....and a bunch of chickens.
