Aloha from HI

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
First tip: build your coop and run while you are waiting for your chicks.

Thanks for the advice! I’m on Pinterest looking for ideas then will decide on which one I like best so we can pick the supplies up and start building. Do you have any suggestions? I just wanna make sure the mongoose dem won’t mess with them or steal the eggs when they actually start laying. I’ve seen a few run into our backyard.

Aloha and welcome to the forum!😊
I’m on the big island and we have to deal with mongoose, unfortunately daytime predators.
Whatever coop and run you decide, make sure you enclose the entire structure with minimum half inch by half-inch 19 gauge hardware cloth. This can be bought on Amazon usually for a decent price. It was the most expensive part of our coop. Mongoose can climb and dig and can get into small spaces. We also have a 12 inch skirt of hardware cloth around the entire structure as well, alternately you can dig hardware cloth down about 12 inches instead of doing an apron. So far this has worked well for us. Not even a mouse can get into our coop and run!
Good luck and enjoy your new chickens, many helpful people here on the forum feel free to ask any questions!😊🌅
