Hi Jennifer! I have a similar story to yours-I have been trying to talk my husband into raising chickens for five years now-we go thru a dozen eggs in two days most times!! My two year old LOVES her eggies and would eat them breakfast lunch and dinner if I let her! Actually sometimes I do cause I'm lazy. Haha anyway, where in Kona are you? We live up mauka and love it. Right now we've got four Easter eggers, two Polish, two barred rock baby chicks, one silver laced wyandotte baby chick and one golden laced wyandotte baby chick. Oh and a Cornish x meat bird baby chick! 15 more Cornish x coming in a few weeks too! Thanks everyone! I'll check out the links above. We're very excited!!
What kind if coop set up do you have? What is your yard like? All of my birds (besides my meat birds) were chosen because of not only thier egg production but bc of thier personality as well. I have also heard buff Orpingtons are super docile but really wanted more EEs bc of the colored eggs. I know my daughter will get a kick outta them! My polish are silly and were selected simply bc they are so goofy looking. The skies the limit! I'm so excited for you! It will be great for your keiki
