I have a backyard chicken coop and have been googling questions I have and have found some answers on the threads here. I have a variety of chickens, most are older and I think are aging out of laying very much. We have purchased our chickens from people around the island so we have quite a mix of chickens and ages. We have Plymouth Rock Chickens, a couple of Ameraucana & Easter Eggers, one little Bantam left, some White Sussex and some red hens, truthfully, I am not sure what they are.

I have some feral chickens coming into my front yard once in a while and I wonder if they would do well in my coop. One of the Roosters has disappeared, after a while, a new one took up the little flock of 3 hens. Does anyone know if they can mix with my tame hens in the coop and fenced in little yard?

G’Day from down under Noelani :frow Welcome!

You may be able to integrate them but I would personally be concerned about any nasty diseases which your chickens may not be immune to or parasites they may bring in with them

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group. If you do decided to try and integrate them, this one in particular might be of assistance:
Topic of the Week - Adding New Chickens to the Flock

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
