i am linda in oakville,wa. i keep 2 horses, 30 chickens, 3 ducks and a pair of african geese.

my geese are just one yearold and are mating. they have eggs in the woods which i have seen or been near. yet, my gander is on the attack. he goes to the trouble of finding me and puts his head down, wings out, and bites and pinches, no getting him off of me. i was told that if he needed to be eliminated, his goose would grieve, starve and suffer to her death. is this true?

I'm sorry I know very little about geese except they bite HARD. Go to the Other Backyard Poultry forum above, they have thread on geese, ducks, etc. I'm sure the geese folks will be able to answer your questions.

I'm glad you joined our community.

I've never kept geese, either. I would definitely post in the Goose section that NorthFlChick linked to. Good luck with your geese!
