Growing up we always had a couple dozen laying hens, Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Columbia Rocks, that I can remember anyway. I got my first 2 hens this past weekend, one is a Easter Egger that looks like a barred rock, and the other is a red one, that has an unknown red brown egg layer as a mother with an Easter Egger father, so who knows. They have been laying non-stop since i got them, only red missed a day, so 5 eggs in 3 days. I never thought it would be as fun as it is. I love watching them and having my two young sons interact with them. I am a professional forester and I live in Hinton, Alberta.
